She+ Geeks Out Summit

September 27, 2019
District Hall, Boston, MA

AGENDA

We’ve designed the day’s agenda to focus on two important needs that we believe are necessary to create a more equitable workforce. You can learn more about each speaker over here!

  • Hold space for women+ to learn from inspiring and kind humans who truly want to make a difference in people’s lives and help women+ feel empowered to advocate for themselves in all situations.
  • Provide educational opportunities for those who want to learn more about how to support traditionally underrepresented and marginalized employees in the workplace by sparking conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Panel – Knowing Your Worth
In this interactive panel, we’ll explore what it means to know your worth. Too often, we tell ourselves that we aren’t qualified for a particular job, that we can’t take risks, that we have to be and live a particular way. We’ll sift through what knowing your worth truly means and how to silence your inner (and sometimes outer!) critics.

I: Community Breakout: Designing Your Career
Designing your career can be daunting. Many of us wander through our professional career without thinking more strategically about where we want to be 5, 10, 20+ years from now. Our panel of experts will share their own career stories and provide insights on what it means to think more intentionally about your career.

II: DEI Breakout: Scientific Method and Cognitive Bias
Do you deal with other people at work? Is making decisions part of your job description? Are you expected to take in information or communicate information to others? If you answered yes, you and your work are vulnerable to bias. Biases are natural, but we don’t have to let them dominate our thinking! In this fun and creative workshop, you’ll learn how to confront and correct your bias so you can make the best decisions possible.
